Do I need the duel mass flywheel replacing?
Most modern vehicles, petrol and diesel cars are fitted with a dual mass flywheel.
This flywheel has large springs inside to help absorb driveline vibrations and create a smoother driving experience.
In most cases they will last 80,000 to 100,000 miles before needing replacing.
When a flywheel is worn, excessive play in the springs can cause you to feel vibrations through the clutch peddle and a rather loud rattle noise during engine operation.
If you are having a clutch replacement it is advised to renew the flywheel also while all components are already apart.
A worn flywheel can cause the new clutch to fail prematurely and void clutch warranty.
